Swags were originally carried by swagmen who were farm workers, goldminers and shearers who walked from job to job in Australia during the 1800´s. Swagmen carried their belongings in a bundle called a swag; this consisted of a bush blanket rolled up with spare clothing inside a tarpaulin or ground sheet. It was unusual for swagmen to receive to rations of food handed out by country police stations or homesteads to last them to their next job. While the number of swagmen began to dwindle after the turn of the century, swags are still widely used today by people in a variety of different situations.
Great Southern Swags are the fast, easy and inexpensive way to set up camp wherever you may be. Swags have the ability to roll up to both the current size including the foam mattress of 900mm x 250mm, and also 500mm x 15mm without the mattress. This is ideal for those who use thin inflatable camping mattresses and have limited space.
